Woman killed, baby injured in truck accident

A 20-year-old woman was killed and a 6-month-old baby was injured in an accident on June 16.  A  Jeep Cherokee attempted to pull onto Highway 138 at Bethsaida Road and was struck by a Budget box truck.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene while the baby was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.  The two men in the Budget truck were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, said Maureen Smith with the Fulton County Police.  A man who lives in the nearby neighborhood said the intersection is dangerous and that he often sees wrecks there, especially because there is no traffic light. The speed limit on the road is 55 mph, but people often reach 65 or 70 mph.
