General Motors has announced its payout formula in its compensation plan for consumers that were injured or killed by its faulty vehicles. GM will payout $1 million to each victim’s family plus further compensation based on the person’s lost potential earnings.
The company further promised to provide $300,000 for each spouse and dependent of victims. GM also stated that it will not reject liability claims on incidents that transpired before it emerged from bankruptcy in 2009, but will not accept claims in which airbags had been deployed.
Furthermore, the plan will also pay for victims who were treated for injuries, $20,000 for one night in the hospital and up to $500,000 for 32 or more nights.
