Three people were killed after a truck accident that occurred in Treutlen County at around 3:35 a.m. on June 19, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
A commercial truck was traveling on the westbound lane of Interstate 16 east of Macon when it hit the rear of a Toyota Scion carrying three people. Both vehicles veered towards the median and into the Interstate’s east lane. The three occupants of the Toyota Scion died in the collision. Meanwhile, the driver of the tractor-trailer was rushed to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. No charges have been filed yet.
The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety said Georgia is among the five states in the country with the highest number of crash fatalities involving commercial trucks.
